Antes, pero sobre todo durante el confinamiento, se dió cuenta de la importancia que tiene la naturaleza en su obra. En el año 2000 empezó a trabajar con ramas de jara. Siempre ha usado ramas secas, muertas, porque verdes no se dejen partir longitudinalmente. Con estas maderas formó su elemento básico que es un triángulo. Añadiendo otros nuevos crea estructuras que pueden crecer en cualquier dirección. Lo que más le gusta es que con estos fragmentos (que normalmente se pudren en el campo) y con papel japonés, tiene la posibilidad de construir objetos fantásticos, transparentes y al mismo tiempo bastante resistentes. Hugo Wirz is a visual artist based in Madrid, Spain. He investigates the connection between destruction and reconstruction of elements. During the pandemic, he realized the importance of nature in his work. In 2000 he started working with rockrose branches. He has always used dry, dead branches because the green ones do not split lengthwise. With these pieces of wood, he formed his basic element which is a triangle. Adding new ones he builds structures that can grow in any direction. What he likes the most is that with these fragments (which normally rot in the field) and with Japanese paper, he has the possibility to build fantastic objects, transparent and at the same time quite resistant. “Y cuando surgen visualizaciones desde mi mundo profundo, estas ¿vienen desde fuera o solo soy un intermediario para desarrollarlas?

A veces me parece que, en cierto modo, solo soy un instrumento que realiza objetos que, en cierto sentido, llegan desde fuera. ¿Es que todo está a mi alrededor o es que existe dentro de mí? O todo está relacionado como una voz que me dijo en un sueño: “Tú eres parte del todo y todo es parte de ti”. En ocasiones tengo la sensación de que las ideas para realizar mis trabajos no son las mías y, sin embargo, veo que todos los dibujos y objetos que hago muestran una correlación y se desarrollan en la misma dirección.

“And when visualizations arise from my deep world, do they come from outside or am I just an intermediary to develop them?

Sometimes it seems to me that, in a way, I am just an instrument that makes objects that, in a certain sense, come from outside. Is it that everything is around me or does it exist within me? Or everything is related like a voice that told me in a dream: "You are part of everything and everything is part of you." Sometimes I have the feeling that the ideas for my work are not mine, and yet I see that all the drawings and objects I make show a correlation and develop in the same direction.
